The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and managing the sales strategy for their division.

The role involves optimising sales processes and ensuring the achievement of Chemco’s commercial objectives by further developing existing customer accounts and identifying new business opportunities.

New business development will be achieved through an increase in sales to active customers, onboarding of new customer and development of sales via new partnerships. You will own the management of key suppliers and identify new suppliers with a view to expanding the product portfolio.

While the role will be supported by management and continuous collaboration within the wider sales team; the Sales Manager will be required to develop, propose and deliver short, medium and long-term growth strategies that the business can support through the potential investment in new resources.

Core Responsibilities

Sales

  • Generate and secure new business opportunities.
  • To up-sell additional opportunities to existing clients.
  • Build and develop good relationships with customers and always provide excellent customer service.
  • Manage the assigned market strategically to increase sales, portfolio and market share.
  • Identify ways to improve service through business development and marketing strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure product quality, safety, and compliance.

Prospecting

  • Source new business opportunities through business development activities with new supply lines and customers.
  • Maintain an appropriate and ongoing level of new business prospecting to increase the level of business and thereby gain market share in all relevant areas.
  • Maintain and grow current customer base with ongoing discussions and support.
  • Identify new market niches for the company.
  • Attend exhibitions or networking events to generate more business for the Company.
  • Prepare quotations and send to new or current customers.

Job Description:

Customer Visits

  • Visit customers within the assigned customer base on a regular and appropriate frequency.
  • Gain a clear understanding of customers’ business and requirements.

Reporting

  • Generate sales reports, forecasts and other reports as required.
  • Keep our Customer Database system up to date with customer details, sales activity and order information.
  • Attend team meetings and share best practice with colleagues to drive collective success.

Market Information / Intelligence

  • Gather ongoing data in terms of competition, prices, products, services etc.
  • Research market and customer information and performance in the marketplace.
  • Update and maintain information on the in-house customer database.

Additional Information:

In addition to your normal duties, you may be required to undertake other duties appropriate to your position as may be assigned to you by your manager. You may be required to travel internationally as part of your role with Chemco.

Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of working within Quality Systems.
  • Knowledge of Distribution within the Water Treatment Sector.
  •  Strong Customer Service skills including use of Customer Relationship Management tool.
  • Proven ability to formulate and implement dynamic sales strategies.
  • Strong ability to build and nurture client relationships and proven track record of customer relationship establishment and development.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Be meticulous in your work with attention to detail.
  • Reliable, hardworking and flexible, team player, fast learner.
  • Excellent communication both verbal and comprehension.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
