The EHS Officer supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) systems, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and best practice standards across all operations.

Core Responsibilities

Safety Management System

  • Support the implementation, documentation, and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS) across the Group.
  • Review and update the SMS, Safety Statement and associated documentation periodically to ensure compliance with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations, legislation, and best practices, providing guidance as needed.
  • Maintain the EHS legal register and keep up-to-date with legal changes and best practice guidelines.
  • Lead and conduct internal EHS audits, inspections, and support external audits as required.
  • Manage the company risk assessment programme, ensuring the creation, review, and update of risk
    assessments as required.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, driving root cause analysis, action tracking, and ensuring corrective measures are implemented effectively.
  • Adhere to and promote EHS procedures and support a proactive safety culture.
  • Track, monitor, and report on EHS performance and metrics
  • Participate in periodic EHS performance management reviews and actively contribute to the continuous
    improvement of the SMS.

Chemical Safety

  • Provide guidance to the company to ensure compliance with relevant chemical legislation such as Chemical Agents, COMAH, REACH, CLP, ADR
  • Oversee and maintain the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Masterfile and SDS’s to ensure that hazardous materials are handled, stored, and transported safely and in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the EHS evaluation process for new product introductions, ensuring chemical risks are identified and mitigated appropriately.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments related to chemical use, equipment, and storage, ensuring alignment
    with legislation and best practices
  • Assist in maintaining COMAH compliance for the Group.

Environmental Management

  • Oversee waste management to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Conduct periodic environmental audits, monitor action follow-ups, and recommend improvements to meet sustainability and compliance goals.

Training and Development

  • Identify EHS training needs and deliver relevant training to build awareness and strengthen safety culture.
  • Attend relevant training, seminars, and events to support continuous professional development.
  • Assist in the planning and management of Emergency Response and Crisis Management.
  • If required, form part of the Crisis Management Team in relation to EHS support.

Experience Required:

  • Primary Degree in Science, EHS, Engineering or related fields, or technical Bachelor degree with a post-grad EHS qualification.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in areas related to environment, health and safety.
  • Ideally experienced in a highly regulated industry such as bio/pharmaceutical, medical devices, chemicals, logistics, semiconductors, food, waste, or possess a legal background.
  • Experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of an EHS Management System, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001.
  • Understanding of chemical safety regulations (REACH, CLP, COMAH, ADR) and hazardous materials management.
  • Previous experience of a SEVESO/COMAH establishment desirable but not essential.
  • Highly organised person with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively at all levels. A proactive, flexible team player with the confidence to address non-compliance and adapt to changing priorities
