HGV / ADR Driver

Chemco drivers are responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to customer sites, whilst always complying with the legal responsibilities under the requirements of the European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR).

This role is based with our logistics team in Damastown Industrial Park. This team operates on a 4 days on and 4 days off shift pattern rotation.

Core Responsibilities

• Drive the company’s vehicles in a safe manner, always obeying the rules of the road.
• Follow and adhere to all applicable company procedures/policies/processes.
• Represent Chemco in front of customers, ensuring professionalism is demonstrated in attitude and appearance at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service by being courteous, and professional when dealing with customers both internally and externally.
• Complete vehicle and equipment check’s as per schedule, reporting any issues immediately.
• Read and understand transport documentation before beginning journey.
• When carrying hazardous goods, be familiar with the volumes and classes of chemicals on board.
• Where feasible oversee the loading and unloading of your vehicle.
• Ensure as far as is reasonably practicable that the packages on board are in a good condition and safe for transporting.
• Ensure loads are fully secured and safe for transporting.
• Ensure the vehicle, trailer, container is ADR compliant with regards placarding and the displaying of Haz plates.
• Ensure MHE and equipment is maintained correctly, and any damages or defects are reported to the facilities department immediately.
• Operate safely and correctly MHE as per training and procedures.
• Complete deliveries to customers within agreed SLA’s.
• Ensure all company’s vehicles are always kept in a clean and presentable manner.
• Ensure vehicles and trailers are locked and secured when unattended.
• Adhere to all H&S requirements on site, in transit and on customers sites.
• Support the transport teams by preparing vehicle and task handovers such as coupling/de-coupling, refuelling,etc.
• Liaise and communicate effectively with all relevant departments to plan, direct, and coordinate transporting activities.
• Follow all reasonable instructions issued by supervisors or management.
• Support the induction and training of new drivers.
• To be on-call and respond to out of hours customer requests.

Experience Required:

• 3+ years articulated, ADR and tanker driving experience
• ADR license + ADR tanker license
• Clean articulated truck driving license
• The following competencies are required:

• Extensive HGV driving experience.
